Admission requirements
General qualification for university entrance (Abitur), 12-week practical training (proof is required before the registration for the final Bachelor thesis at the latest). In addition to a sound command of the English language, applicants for Business Administration should be interested in mathematical methods and theoretical approaches to solving real world problems. Moreover, they should be partial to actively and passively working with written texts. DSH2 language proof required.

In the basic modules, students are required to study the subjects Business Administration, Economics, Law, Statistics, and Mathematics. The advanced modules are also obligatory.

In the following course of their studies, students choose one out of five major business administration disciplines: Banking and Finance; Accounting, Auditing and Taxation; Marketing and Analytics; Supply Chain Management and Logistics or Management and Economics.

In addition, the Bachelor program includes a complementary part which comprises three modules:

The module E1 "key skills" consists of the virtual case study TOPSIM.

In the module E2 students can choose from the following subjects: East Asian Economic Studies, Business English, European Business Law, Political Management, Political Frameworks of Economics, Political and Economic Development, Economic Psychology, Economic Sociology, Business Didactics, Freakonomics, Computer Science, Socioeconomics, Business Mathematics and small business management.

In the module E3 "studium liberale" students can choose lectures and seminars from other faculties of the University of Duisburg-Essen. The Institute for optional Studies is responsible for offering a catalogue of lectures every semester. For credit transfer procedures, please click here.

The last component of the course is the bachelor thesis.

Examinations/ECTS credits
In accordance with the ECTS credit system, students have to take around 35 exams in the course of their studies (168 points). The final Bachelor thesis (12 points) has to be completed within eight weeks. Exams taken in the course of the studies can be repeated twice after the first attempt.

Accompanying practical trainings
12 weeks of practical training; if possible before the study entry, proof is required before the registration for the final Bachelor thesis at the latest. Activities from a working student relationship or from commercial training can also be credited if the scope is appropriate. Please hand in your certificate at the examination office. International
Semesters abroad are possible and welcome. The faculty's international office supports students in organizational matters. They also provide more information about possible international double degrees.

Depending on the selected major discipline in the advanced part of the Bachelor Program, special methods and instruments for specific economic fields and functions will be taught alongside general economic skills. Thus, on the one hand, the Bachelor program enables students to successfully start a business career outside the university. On the other hand, it prepares them for further scientific qualifications in a specialized Master program.
The Bachelor degree qualifies students for all kinds of business administration occupations in companies of various economic sectors or an independent business start-up.
