general qualification for university entrance (Abitur), 12-week practical training (proof is required before the registration for the final Bachelor thesis at the latest), English language skills at the level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). In addition to a sound command of the English language, applicants for Business Administration should be interested in mathematical methods and theoretical approaches to solving real world problems. Moreover, they should be partial to actively and passively working with written texts.

Local admission restrictions. Applications need to be sent to the student secretariat of the University of Duisburg-Essen, Campus Essen.

7. Accompanying practical trainings
12 weeks of practical training; if possible before the study entry, proof is required before the registration for the final Bachelor thesis at the latest. School training is included in the curriculum (8 ECTS).
8. Description of the study program
In the basic modules, students are required to study the subjects Business Administration, Economics, Law, Statistics, Didactics, Business Education and Mathematics. The two advanced modules Accounting and Business Administration plus the school training are also obligatory.
In the following course of their studies, students choose one out of three major business administration disciplines: Finance and Accounting, Production/Logistics/Sales or Information Systems.
In addition, the Bachelor program includes a complementary part which comprises two modules:
The module E1 "key skills" consists of the virtual case study TOPSIM.
In the module E2 students are trained in Business Law.
A training seminar for scientific methods prepares the students for their final Bachelor thesis.
9. Examinations/ECTS credits
According to the credit point system, students have to take 42 exams in the course of their studies (170 points). Credits are allocated for the respective lectures. The final Bachelor thesis (10 points including a preparatory training) has to be completed within eight weeks. Exams taken in the course of the studies can be repeated twice after the first attempt.
10. Occupational objectives
The Bachelor in Business Education is primarily aimed at qualifying the students for the consecutive Master of Education in Business Education, which allows them to become teachers in vocational schools (the entry to the preparatory school traineeship requires 52 weeks of professional training altogether).
However, the program also qualifies for a position in human resource planning and development. The program comprises modules in Didactics and Business Education which support competences needed in the planning of in-company trainings and the processes of knowledge transfer and management. Moreover, the combination of business and education contents prepares students for a profession in the management of educational institutions. Students with a degree cum laude who decide against a career as a teacher and want to further qualify in the field of Business Administration can join the respective Master of Science after their Bachelor graduation.
