As far as research is concerned, the department of Technology and Operations Management is mainly involved with the creation and improvement of intra- and inter-company value chains, transportation networks and the respective information systems. Our main scientific analyses focus on processes of service creation and controlling inside and between companies, as well as on the development of management support systems. Parts of the department's activities have been merged in the Center for Logistics and Traffic (ZLV - Zentrum für Logisitk und Verkehr), which offers different faculties efficient conditions for working together on interdisciplinary research projects in the fields of logistics and transportation. For other activities the department closely cooperates with the Center for Telecommunications and Media Business (ZfTM - Zentrum für Telekommunikations- und Medienwirtschaft) in order to examine the competitive implications for telecommunication companies in the face of technological changes. In general, the department's central conceptual research projects and quantitative empirical studies combine analytical profundity with practical benefits.
