Research
For the faculty of the Mercator School of Management (MSM), research is as important as teaching. Research includes all activities that employ scientific methods in order to gain scientific insights. The MSM intends to provide valuable results for its students and the business world by empirically examining current practical economic issues.
The research conducted by the departments of Accounting and Finance, Technology and Operations Management, and Management and Marketing covers a wide field of topics related to business administration. In addition, the department of Managerial Economics contributes scientific approaches to aspects of political and global economics. The publications of the MSMS focus - among others - on the following topics and businesses: technology and innovations management, telecommunications, risk management, portfolio management, taxation options, company structures, business start-ups, information management, production management, supply chain management, marketing, employee performance, service engineering, corporate governance, international markets, East Asian economies, human resource and organizational development, project management, and success measurement.
The research activities of the MSM support its teaching, which is aimed at the understanding of current practical developments and problem areas. Moreover, its publications provide instruments and methods for a better understanding of decision problems and for successful business management.
